Yeah! What another fantastic weekend. As most should know, it was Jammin’ On Main this weekend in Cincy. The weekend started early on Thursday, like we have been doing lately. Nothing too big, but it was big enough to make class the next day seem like an awful idea. All the regular crowd was over there, and we even played some drinking games. :)
So Friday, I went to a class. Yeah, I decided to not go to quite a few of them, because it just didn’t sound like fun. :) We got a keg very early on, and the drinking began as soon as everyone was out of class. Wacko dropped in to go to the show with us. It’s always a good time when that crazy kid is around. After a much needed session of drinking, we caught the bus downtown to the show. We got there pretty early, and realized we didn’t want to see any of the bands that were on. We walked all around the place to get a better idea, and the setup looked pretty nice actually. After doing this for some time, it was time to catch Jack Johnson, who gets a bunch of hype. I was really expecting good things, but I was let down. His studio stuff is pretty damn good, but live show lacks something. The energy wasn’t there, and I was hoping for a jam or two… After seeing that I pretty much made up my mind that I wasn’t going to watch Mayer, but see the Roots instead. I think I made the right choice in the end, because the roots are great. I heard that the mayer show was very similar to the newport in Columbus I just went to a few weeks ago. The rest of the night was filled with more drinking over at Liam’s. Although Kate wasn’t able to make it to the show because of work, she came down for the partying afterwards. A random guy from a local band (60 Cycle Hum) came into the house and jammed out with fighty and myself on some songs. Rumor has it, fighty may play the mad frog. For me the night ended with walking Kate back up to the dorm, hanging outside there for some time, and then walking back to crash on Liam’s couch.
I woke up Saturday to a glass of water being poured on me by fighty. Sometimes I want to kill him. :) There was only a little beer left in the keg from Friday, so that was polished off pretty quickly and then we went to get another one. We went out to the eastgate mall for the OAR in-store. They ended up not playing, so I just kept thinking about going back and drinking more. Eventually we did, and good crowd of people showed up over there. We piled about 20 people onto the bus, and headed down to the show. I got to see Howie Day again, and that is always a treat. OAR took the stage and the place was packed. The show was incredible. Junior Marvin, who was a Wailer for Bob Marley, sat in with the guys for about half the set. It was ridiculous. :) Tons of people were watching this show. I have heard guesses that are around 10000 people or so. The bus ride home was something else. Singing the star spangled banner, having the head of something come on the bus to tell us to shut up, etc. I swear I knew about 75% of the people on that thing. So we finally made it back to Liam’s to drink some more. The typical crowd is all there plus the 20 or so people that were partying with us earlier. I ended up making some music with 2 of pitcock’s buddies. Always a good time. It was a very good time, and we even ended up killing the keg the same night. I ended up leaving the party to make room for others to crash. Kate and I walked up to her dorm and we stayed there. I swear we can kill time like no other people alive. She is such a cool person and a blast to hang out with. At one point I remembering it being like 8 in the morning. I think that is about as long as I made it, but needless to say I didn’t get much sleep. Kate and Steph always have to work the early shift, so I think I slept for 2 hours. Oh well, I’m starting to feel tired again right now, but I have a hockey game. I’m not sure what I’m doing tonight, but I hope everyone had as great of a weekend as I did…
