Yeah! What another fantastic weekend. As most should know, it was Jammin’ On Main this weekend in Cincy. The weekend started early on Thursday, like we have been doing lately. Nothing too big, but it was big enough to make class the next day seem like an awful idea. All the regular crowd was over there, and we even played some drinking games. :)

So Friday, I went to a class. Yeah, I decided to not go to quite a few of them, because it just didn’t sound like fun. :) We got a keg very early on, and the drinking began as soon as everyone was out of class. Wacko dropped in to go to the show with us. It’s always a good time when that crazy kid is around. After a much needed session of drinking, we caught the bus downtown to the show. We got there pretty early, and realized we didn’t want to see any of the bands that were on. We walked all around the place to get a better idea, and the setup looked pretty nice actually. After doing this for some time, it was time to catch Jack Johnson, who gets a bunch of hype. I was really expecting good things, but I was let down. His studio stuff is pretty damn good, but live show lacks something. The energy wasn’t there, and I was hoping for a jam or two… After seeing that I pretty much made up my mind that I wasn’t going to watch Mayer, but see the Roots instead. I think I made the right choice in the end, because the roots are great. I heard that the mayer show was very similar to the newport in Columbus I just went to a few weeks ago. The rest of the night was filled with more drinking over at Liam’s. Although Kate wasn’t able to make it to the show because of work, she came down for the partying afterwards. A random guy from a local band (60 Cycle Hum) came into the house and jammed out with fighty and myself on some songs. Rumor has it, fighty may play the mad frog. For me the night ended with walking Kate back up to the dorm, hanging outside there for some time, and then walking back to crash on Liam’s couch.

I woke up Saturday to a glass of water being poured on me by fighty. Sometimes I want to kill him. :) There was only a little beer left in the keg from Friday, so that was polished off pretty quickly and then we went to get another one. We went out to the eastgate mall for the OAR in-store. They ended up not playing, so I just kept thinking about going back and drinking more. Eventually we did, and good crowd of people showed up over there. We piled about 20 people onto the bus, and headed down to the show. I got to see Howie Day again, and that is always a treat. OAR took the stage and the place was packed. The show was incredible. Junior Marvin, who was a Wailer for Bob Marley, sat in with the guys for about half the set. It was ridiculous. :) Tons of people were watching this show. I have heard guesses that are around 10000 people or so. The bus ride home was something else. Singing the star spangled banner, having the head of something come on the bus to tell us to shut up, etc. I swear I knew about 75% of the people on that thing. So we finally made it back to Liam’s to drink some more. The typical crowd is all there plus the 20 or so people that were partying with us earlier. I ended up making some music with 2 of pitcock’s buddies. Always a good time. It was a very good time, and we even ended up killing the keg the same night. I ended up leaving the party to make room for others to crash. Kate and I walked up to her dorm and we stayed there. I swear we can kill time like no other people alive. She is such a cool person and a blast to hang out with. At one point I remembering it being like 8 in the morning. I think that is about as long as I made it, but needless to say I didn’t get much sleep. Kate and Steph always have to work the early shift, so I think I slept for 2 hours. Oh well, I’m starting to feel tired again right now, but I have a hockey game. I’m not sure what I’m doing tonight, but I hope everyone had as great of a weekend as I did…

Tuesday night we just all sat around Liam’s house for most of the night doing some drinking. I must have made 3 trips up to Stop n’ Rob so I wonder what the people up there think about me. Especially since we were celebrating ghetto style with mostly 40s all day…

Wednesday I went to Lexington right after class with Liam and Fighty to see a Llama at some small university called Transylvania. It was a great OUTSIDE show, and it is always really cool to see these guys. Milafalo met us up at the show and we chilled with him for a bit after, but soon went back home. Later on in the night I went to some downtown lounge with Callsen, Jessica, Kate and Steph. I think we just missed the ID checker, so they were all able to drink while down there. We went to see a guy play who works with Kate and Steph. I was relatively impressed by both bands that played. The bar is a really cool place, very relaxed and full of interesting types of people. I may have to check that place out again sometime in the future.

So as usual, I am sitting here at work updating this thing. I’m about to run out to Mar’s (the Musician’s Planet) to pick up some stuff for this weekend. That’s right today starts the beginning of the weekend, or at least we all seem to think so. :) So we are gonna pick up a keg later on today for tomorrow day/night whatever, but I’m sure we’ll starting drinking on it tonight. This weekend should be a great time. Lots of people are coming in from out of town for the show, hell Jay is even flying in from England! He’s a crazy guy. :) I hope the weather holds up and that we figure out how we are going to get down there each night. I’m sure we’ll think of something creative, cause we always do.

Alright I’m gonna get working on this long lunch break If you aren’t in Cincy this weekend, what the hell is wrong with you???

Went to the bars for a bit tonight. It gave me a chance to have some fun and get some stuff off of my mind. I really don’t know how the rest of this week is going to work out, but I hope it is for the best…

How beautiful of a song is I’ll Back You Up. If you don’t know download it and listen to it. Incredible!

I’m going to bed shortly, but I may try and revise a song before I do so. Good night world!
This is what I have so far….

Thinking about the days gone by
I sit and wonder where you are
and what ever happened to us
if I could do anything at all
to have you here with me
I would give anything away
just for one more day with you

I can see so many stars tonight,
But they do not compare to the twinkle in your eye.
You are not here sitting next to me,
Although in my heart I wish you would be.

There was once a time when
I believed I had found my perfect match
and that we would have forever
If I cannot have you in my life
I hope for someone like you
to take your place eternally

I can see so many stars tonight,
But they do not compare to the twinkle in your eye.
You are not here sitting next to me,
Although in my heart I wish you would be.

There isn’t much else to say,
I will always think of you everyday.
Each single day
From now on
I will always love
and think about you

I can see so many stars tonight,
But they do not compare to the twinkle in your eye.
You are not here sitting next to me,
Although in my heart I wish you would be.

Well as usual I have been staying really busy with school and trying to keep my social life going strong. Wednesday I ended up at the Old Saloon, and surprisingly just about everyone that went there in the summer was there. It was a really good time, but I was still suffering from my cold. I think it was a cold, however now I am starting to wonder if maybe it’s my allergies coming back for the wonderful spring time. I guess I should start taking those Allegra pills of mine again.

Lately, Liam and all his roommates along with the typical people we party with have starting partying hard on thursday nights. So I went with them this past Thursday over to Jessica’s house (Nick’s girlfriend). It was a really good time full of drinking games and many funny moments. The only thing that kind of sucked was realizing that I still had to get up at 9 so that I could make it to my classes. Well somehow I pulled it off and made it to my 10. I skipped a few classes that day just because I felt pretty shitty from the combination of sickness/allergies and the beer from the night before. Overall, it was a really good time though.

Later on friday, I headed up to Miami U. with all my high school buddies. We crammed into Halp’s minivan and began drinking right away, well everyone besides Halp since he was driving. :) We make it to Miami after a few stops, and most of us were feeling really good. We hit a bar, and then got ready to see Red Wanting Blue play. At some point Ken and I decided that we were just going to kiss all kinds of girls on the cheek. Well little did we know (maybe he did) but we actually picked up some girls from doing this. These two girls followed us around for a good chunk of the night just making out with us whenever and wherever. I guess you can’t really complain about that. I really didn’t catch much of RWB’s set because of the girls and our desire to go to the bars to drink more. You couldn’t drink on the street, and that was my only real complaint. I ran into all kinds of people that I know, and met a very cool girl (Johnna) from the Red Wanting Blue message board. I had talked to her pretty frequently over IM and we had plans to meet up at the show. Yeah so somehow Ken and I lost these two girls so we just went on our mission to find more. :) We lost most of our friends, and ended up just staying up in Miami while the others went home. The band after RWB called The Ark Band really caught my attention. They are a reggae band that put on a great show. I will definitely have to check these guys out in the future. After that was over, we grabbed some food and wandered over to Bill’s house to crash. Luckily someone was there, even though Bill wasn’t, and he said that we could crash there.

So we woke up on Sat. and realized we needed to get a ride. Well I called home and my mom said she would come and get us, but in the end it was my dad who ended up doing it. Normally the drive is very short, but this day was graduation day, so the solo road that goes into town was full of traffic. I felt really bad, but I think he was just relaxing for the next days marathon anyway. So we finally do get home…

Later on that day I went down to Clifton to do some partying. We started partying at Liam’s of course, and after we felt good and ready went over to some dudes house to drink a few margaritas. They were strong but quite good. Definitely worth the trip there. After a few drinks we decided to walk up the street to Stratford for the big block party. Once we hit the street we see the hundreds and hundreds of people that were already there and a big couch fire in the middle of the road. At this point we walked up towards all the action but stood off to the side since we realized what was going to happen. The cops finally did show up and what resulted was another fire, beenbags and rubber bullets being fired by the cops, broken car windshields, tear gas, among many other things. Click here for a story written by the local newspaper. I finally made it out of all that mess and headed back to Liam’s house. I walked in to find fighty (the next proclaimed John Mayer ~diddy) playing some music for everyone there. He has been just going at it late night lately while drunk and doing really cool shit. So I grabbed the trusty bongos and we played some songs. Always a good time. Then we eventually turned some CD’s on and had our little dance party going on. People were taking clothes off and everyone was pounding some drinks. This all lasted till pretty late in the night, something like 4 or so. Eventually we went outside to chill out for a bit and then people started going to bed. A group of us decided that we should try and stay awake and go to breakfast a little later on. A girl by the name of Kate took a liking to me, and we devoted a good amount of this time wasting to making out. :) We were all doing really well staying awake, but the last I can remember is that it was 7:30 or so and I felt wide awake. Obviously I wasn’t caused I must have passed out right after that…

What a great weekend. The only thing I should have done was started working on my project for class earlier. I don’t think that we are even done with it now and it was due at midnight. Ah well, at least we should be done soon.

Have a great week everyone!!!!

I love Chicago! It is such a great town. The shows were incredible, and I had an incredible time. I think all of us are very excited for the summer. There really isn’t much else to say.

Who will forget:

Man I am exhausted today. Last night I went up to Columbus to see the John Mayer show at the Newport and then followed it up with the Fate Hates Us show. Both were very good shows, and at both I got to hear some songs I had never heard before. I actually got to hear No Such Thing twice, once by Mayer and then Tom from FHU played it since he wasn’t at the Mayer show. :) I didn’t get to bed until about 6 AM, and I left my mom a note to get me out of bed before she left for work. I have no clue what time she got me up, but I couldn’t handle it. I eventually woke up on my own around 10:30 and decided to go into work. That’s only 4.5 hours of sleep. Oh well, it was well worth it…

So at the Mayer show, I was pretty much just chillin’ right by Adam E’s rig the whole time. I could see most of everything for most of the night until the towards the encore when the floor got packed with people. It was still cool though. Right before he played Comfortable which would be the last song of the night, a girl that was standing next to Adam tapped me on the shoulder and said, “I just wanted to tell you that you are a cutie.” The song was starting, and I really wanted to hear it, so I just said thanks and then listened to the song. It was a great song to hear, and after it was over I turned around to start up a conversation with this girl. I guess she lives pretty close to me and went to high school at Sycamore, but she is at OSU now. I believe her name was Leanne, but I had trouble remembering it until just now. I have a serious problem with remembering people’s names, I need to find a way to fix that somehow. Anyway, she said that she had homework to do, but I told her that I would be going to the Fate Hates Us show, if she decided to slack off a bit. She did not show up there, but I thought that the whole thing was pretty cool. Maybe I’ll run into her again sometime. Fighty and Liam both tried to convince me that she told me that cause she thought I was gay, but I think they were just jealous. :)

So onto the Fate Hates Us show. I tell you what, these guys are really getting damn good, not that they weren’t before but I was very impressed with them last night, and I think so were some of the others that I brought up there to the show. Joe Vedder (Mr. Pearl Jam) loved the “Alive” cover, just as I knew he would. The band got a new trailer and Sabrina hooked them up with a cool new banner. I wish that more people would have shown up for the show there, but I think it will all happen for them in time. I found out that some of the guys read this journal, which is cool. Sometimes I wonder if anyone actually reads this, but I like writing in it. It gives me a way to remember all kinds of events and just get everything out my system that I need to “talk” about. :)

Well I guess I’m gonna get back to work now. I have a big day of class tomorrow with some tests and a project, but then after that it is off to Chicago for some DMB. I am very very excited for this. Have a good weekend everyone…

2002-04-23

Damn I did it again. Well I guess I will try to remember all of what has happened…

So school has been keeping me extremely busy. I haven’t had much time for a social life in the past week. Nothing really big happened at the end of last week, so I’ll move on to the weekend:
Friday we all hung out over at Liam’s house and ended up hitting up a couple of parties. Nothing too big, but we all had a good time.
Saturday was Springfest down on campus. The day was a little bit overcast but it never rained, which is a good thing. I caught the end of Homunculous’ set and then headed over to the other stage to watch my boys Fate Hates Us play a 4 song set. I recorded it and I think it is the best one I have of them yet. After their show, we all chilled and listened to the other bands and drank a bunch of beer. I ended up staying at the place from 4 till around 11. I think I had quite a bit to drink and not enough food. We all went to some parties afterwards and had a great time. It was truly another pretty drunk weekend…

This week has once again been a very busy one. Today I spent like 4 hours in the library doing research, which is more time that I probably have ever spent there before. It has gotten cold out again and scared all the girls back into hibernation, but I think the weather is looking up for the next couple days. I was in a somewhat sad mood today, although I guess I am over it now. It is just that Amanda was in my dreams last night for the first time in awhile. I had a rough time trying to sleep and that probably put me into my bad mood for the rest of the day. I’m not sure what caused her to enter my head again, maybe it is because I have pretty much completely given up on Carissa and because of that I have nothing to take my mind off of it. I don’t think it is that though, cause I am about completely over her, I think it is just a coincidence. Yeah but I am pretty much done with Carissa, even before anything even started. I just don’t think it is worth any of my effort. Maybe I will be proven wrong in the future, but for now that is where I stand.

So tomorrow I’m going to Columbus to see John Mayer, and then Fate Hates Us after the Mayer show. It should be a great time. And then this weekend a group of us are traveling to Chicago to see 2 Dave Matthews Band shows. I haven’t seen one of these shows in quite some time, so I’m very excited. I hope everyone has a nice night, I’m about to get some extra sleep…

2002-04-16

So my brother requested a journal entry for tonight, I guess since he saw my away message that it was Carissa’s birthday. Sorry to disappoint you Tim, but nothing happened with that at all. It was a good night, great weather, beers flowing, but she is very much caught up with Danny. There really isn’t much I can do about it, and Kelly has told me that she is passing off our whole make out thing like it is my fault, when actually it was hers. Actually fault is such a bad word, since I guess it was apparent that we both wanted it, but she started it all and continued on with it. Well I have come to the point where I feel like it really isn’t worth my time or effort to try to work anything out with her. I’m not saying I wouldn’t do anything in the future, but right now it is just dumb. There are lots of fish out there. :)

So this weekend, I saw Fate Hates Us a couple times, and had a great time hanging out with those guys. I didn’t get to sing Poker with them this time, cause the cops broke up the party before we could get around to it. I tell you what though, these guys are great. I enjoy seeing them anytime. Friday, I saw them in Columbus, one of my favorite cities to visit. Every time I go to that place, I get fucked up, as does everyone else. Not much else to really say about that. Saturday they played the same house in Clifton. It was a wonderful time, and I wish it could have only lasted longer. Oh well shit happens I guess. That sums up my weekend, it was a drunk one, but tons of fun!

Today was a beautiful day. Campus was full of tons of great scenery, probably the best I have seen since I started school. The bar tonight was just a perfect way to end the day. I’m off to bed, cause I’m damn tired. Night all!!!

2002-04-12

This has to be quick. It’s late and I have class tomorrow. So we went to Woodside Quinn tonight, which I must add was a great show, but at one point I ran into Carissa on my way to the bar. She just looks at me and says, “Ed, kiss me.” I had all kind of thoughts running through my head, but I’m a guy, so I did. I really don’t understand this girl. There is other drama as well, but that will have to wait. It has nothing to do with me though, thank god…

Tomorrow I’ll be seeing Fate Hates Us, which I am very excited for. Goodnight!!!

2002-04-11

Yeah, so Carissa and I did talk eventually. Although not in person, it was over the phone. Basically she said that she didn’t want me to be uncomfortable around Dan. I wouldn’t really call it that though. I told her I was just confused about her, and them being together. She said that she wasn’t really sure why they were together, but there must be something because they are together. Then added that it doesn’t mean she doesn’t have feelings for me, and that it would be different if they weren’t together. I guess that basically just puts me back into the same place I was before, and I told her that. I said that I would just continue to be the way I was before it all happened, and just try to block the event out.

Anyway, that has been going alright I guess. I really do just enjoy being around her, and we continue to go out all the time with the group. We even still call each other daily. I guess there really isn’t much to complain about, plus I don’t know if I want a girlfriend. I’ve had this mentality for quite some time now, and I think I am back to it after a very short lapse. :)

We have had some birthdays over the past couple of days. Bryan’s was the 9th, Brad’s the 10th. I’ve been keeping really busy with school, homework, going out, work, etc.

Tonight, Woodside Quinn is playing Mad Frog. Finally the long wait for a show has ended. I’m gonna get back to work now, have a great day!!!
