I just cancelled my AOL free trial that I got from signing up at freeipods.com. Those guys are awful, and will not take no for an answer. I actually was getting pretty angry with the guy who was “consulting” me. It might be easier to just mail or fax a request in for the rest of you that have to do this as well. Here is the AOL site that tells you all of your options. I’ve got one confirmed referral, and 4 others that are waiting to confirm. If you want to sign up still, feel free to use my link and guarantee that I’ll get the 5 that I need…

Sweet, my new phone came yesterday! I just spent an hour to program all of my numbers into the thing. Hopefully I can get a few years out of this thing. I think it’s the same phone that Liam has. I don’t have the bulky desktop charger anymore, my favorite thing about it so far. I’m gonna take it over to the sprint store (very close to our new office) and make sure my software is up to date. I’m also going to check out ebay for any cool accessories…
So we moved office buildings for work. My drive is still about the same, but the new site is much better than the old. We have part of the 3rd floor of this building and no one else is on the 3rd floor. There is room for us to expand as much as we need to. So far it hasn’t been very productive since we’ve had to be trained on the new phone system, setup our workspaces, etc. I’m liking it all so far…
I still haven’t got my new cell phone. If I have to call back and wait on the line again, I will not be very happy…
I’m gonna try and get a little done today, although I still have to setup my new phone. Oh yeah I do have a direct number now it’s (816) 434-4076, although it may not work until tomorrow…
Oh yeah, I won a new Nomad on ebay, for just over $100. I think I’m going to use the circuit city gift card to get a new camera, and then if I get reimbursed from the Hyatt for my old camera I will just have that money to do whatever with. I think I’m going to go with a different camera though. Time to do some research…
Alright, who has heard about this free ipod deal that is going on? I didn’t really believe it, but a few friends of mine have already received their FREE ipods, that’s like $300 for free. Basically what you have to do is sign up for some free trial (there are like 10 different options) and also get 5 people to sign up for a free trial as well using your own unique link. Once you get approved for your trial and get 5 of your friends to do the same, they will apparently send you an ipod for free. I’m a sucker and I’ve started my own attempt at this. If you are interested in trying it out as well, please use my link and sign up for a trial (don’t forget to cancel it as well once you have been approved)…
Use my link!!!
Here are some directions that a friend posted on a message board:
Step 1
Anyhow, here are the instructions on how to do it. I’m going to post a link, head to it and at the top is a place to select your Free iPod (pick which one you want). Enter your name and email down at the bottom of the page, then click the next or continue button.
Step 2
This second page should show you where you want the ipod sent to if you complete the requirements. Enter in your address (note one account per household, meaning you can use one for work and home).
Step 3
You get a bunch of banners up at the top, that ask you to take surveys (about 10-12 of them) just click no thanks on every one and move on. Once you do that you are taken to a screen that says LAST STEP.
Step 4
Before signing up for any of the previous offers check your email to verify your account. Do this first before doing an offer (I didn’t but I hear it makes it a bit easier)
Step 5
On this LAST STEP screen you will see a picture of the iPod you selected along with a bunch of offers below. You must sign up for one of the offers. They are all free trials, or sign up for a credit card with no annual fee etc… It will cost you absolutely nothing. I would recommend picking AOL 9.0 and sign up for it or the Ancestry.com one. You click on it, enter your address information, your credit card information and you are good to go.
Some sites like ancestry.com update your freeipods.com account immediately, some others like the GM credit card or the AOL 9.0 take a few days to get the information updated on your freeipods.com account.
Conclusion
Continue checking back to the check status page to see if you have been confirmed yet, and start referring people. Once you’ve referred 5 people and they are confirmed for signing up for a free trial you get an email message saying you got your free IPOD.
I’ve played hockey a couple times this week and ran a couple miles, just as always…
I just realized that my Nomad is broken the other day. It freezes on a startup screen and goes to a recovery screen. From there anything I do just gives me a harddrive error. Looks like it’s time to pay a visit to Circuit City. The only bad thing is that this particular Nomad is out of production, so they may not have a new one to replace it with. I’m keeping my fingers crossed…
Speaking of service plans, I realized that yesterday was the last day for my cell phones 3 year service plan. I took it into Best Buy to try and milk a new phone one more time. My current phone works, but it has trouble charging quite frequently and it also powers down at random times. The dorky guy in the store told me that they no longer service phones in the store and that I had to call a 1-800 number. I called right away and was on hold for 20 minutes. I then had to go play hockey. After the game, I called right back and was on hold the whole drive home. When I got home I had Kim listen to the annoying hold message until she was ready to blow up my phone. I then took the phone back and remained on hold for quite some time. Grand total I think we were on hold for close to an hour. Finally, someone picked up and after a half hour of questions, she said that they will be sending me a new phone. I should have it within 2 days as well! Woohoo! The worst part is entering my phone numbers back into the phone, but oh well, it’s worth it. Thanks Best Buy…
No update on my camera. The last time I called the girl who I talked to before was on vacation. I’m not sure I can convince anyone else that it’s their fault, so I’m gonna have to try and call this chick again sometime soon…
So after work Friday I went home and Kim and I had some dinner and headed to the airport. Got to Baltimore just past 11 and met up with my buddy Weeba. We took a cab to the downtown area to meet up with everyone. We went to a couple different bars on Federal Hill, ropewalk and mothers. A good night out on the town. An old friend of mine (EJ) was out with us, so it was fun to party with him. Tracey must have said “best birthday ever!” 4 million times, and we all did have a great time.
Saturday we got up and ate at Chipotle! Then headed to DC to checkin to the hotel there. We sat around for a few hours, when we should have been going out to a few museums or something, but I think we were all tired and lazy. The show that night was awesome, we owned the entire top balcony/bar area. Our buddy Rob and his wife Ilona came out to the show. Felt like I hadn’t seen him in years. We ended up going to Ben’s Chili Bowl after the show was over and then closed the basement bar. The guy taking orders could not get the fact that I wanted a chili dog without the dog, too funny. It’s no Skyline, but it wasn’t too bad. :)
Another good weekend out with some great friends!
Last night we just sat around and watched the Olympics for the most part. US is doing pretty good over there, both the male and female individual all around golds in gymnastics. Team gold for female and team silver for male. Not to mention the swimmers. Definitely a ton to watch…
I’m not sure how I could forget to post this, but I’m heading to Baltimore and DC this weekend. It’s my good friend Tracey’s birthday today, and she decided she was heading out that way. It took some convincing for me to decide to go, but after awhile there were too many of my friends going not to go. Good thing I have a free southwest flight, that I am using. We are going to go out in Baltimore tonight, and then head to the 9:30 Club to see The Low Life. Should be a great weekend!
Tuesday night we worked out at the gym and then relaxed at home. Can you believe that I am regularly running 3+ miles a couple times a week? I really don’t believe it either. :)
Last night I played hockey and then went up to the Brooksider for Mike’s birthday celebration. It was also $2 anything night, so you can’t go wrong with that. Kim and Doni are in North Dakota (don’t you feel sorry for them) so we were bachelors once again. Todd didn’t show up, Phil said something about him taking this week off. What a bunch of crap! We had a good time regardless…
Kim is coming back tonight, so I’ll likely just go home and cook dinner. Maybe we’ll watch some Olympics tonight or something…
The DMB show was awesome! It was like going to a show in the summer of 2002 before Everyday was released, with a few brand new songs added in (which are really growing on me). There was only one song from the Everyday CD which made me very happy. Under The Table And Dreaming was the most played CD, and that almost always makes for a good show. During Nancies Dave tried to alter the line “Lost somewhere in Paris” and said “Lost somewhere in… Texas” Haha, the Texas shows are the next shows of the tour, what a fool. Sandstone is nice place to see a show if it’s a nice night out. I would hate to be there in the rain since there isn’t a roof over anything. The worst part of the place, the parking and traffic. We sat in the same spot for about an hour not moving until we finally gave up and turned around to try a different way out and got out in a matter of minutes. Don’t you think they could have people there to direct the cars???
Ahhhh… what happened? I almost got back into my old routine of updating this thing weekly, which is now Phil Kenagy style. :b
We hit up O’Dowd’s on the plaza on Wednesday night after my hockey. Kim’s new friend Amanda met up with us there, as did Mike. I had a couple Guinness, yum!
Friday night was the acoustic planet tour show at City Market with Bela Fleck, Keller Williams and Yonder Mt. What a show that was! The whole thing was seamless, meaning there were no set breaks between the different acts. Yonder Mt. played first and all of the Flecktones made an appearance during their set. Eventually Keller joined them onstage and they slowly left the stage. The same thing happened with Keller and Bela. The encore had all 9 performers on stage jamming away. I recorded the show, but I have no idea on setlists or how to cut it up, but look for it eventually. It was also the KC microbrew festival, so we had good beer all night long!
Saturday Kim and I headed to Wichita for my buddy Steve Christy’s birthday celebration featuring Shaking Tree. We booked the downtown Hyatt for $45 via priceline. The venue was awesome. It was an open air place with bug brick walls surrounding an open courtyard. Shaking Tree sounded the best I have heard them yet! A very good time for our first time in Wichita.
Last night we tried for 2nd row DMB tickets for tonight, but didn’t have the best of luck. At least we still have tickets for the show. The weather should be perfect for tonight. Oh yeah, the band is all staying right down the street from our place. As we drove in from Wichita yesterday I saw lines of buses sitting outside the Fairmont. I’m pumped for tonight!!!
I also might be getting reimbursed for my camera by the Cleveland Hyatt. It seems as if the head housekeeper is accepting blame for it being missing. It sounds too good to be true, but I’ll keep you updated on that…
Back to work…
