So I had a big decision to make yesterday, and it took me all day to do it. Hockey has started back up, but the first couple weeks were only pickup since the other teams were still trying to get a final lineup, but our real first game was last night. I also was invited to a listener feedback meeting at my favorite radio station (The Planet), the one that I was on a few months ago. Anyway, both of these events were at the same time, and I really wish I had a clone so that I could do them both. Someone work on that asap, thanks! :) I ended up flipping a coin and it said to go to hockey, which kind of made more sense because I do pay for it. We won our game, and I think we might be able to win the league this time around!

Friday night was a relaxing one for us. I stopped on the way home to pick up a couple six packs and then we were just gonna hang out and drink a little. We had our first Boulevard Zon’s of the year. I’m not sure why it took us so long to get our hands on some, but we finally did. Great beer! We watched the VH1 special with Dave Matthews and Trey Anatasio’s trip to Africa, finally. It aired a long time ago, and I missed it then, but my buddy Tim burnt it to DVD for me so that I could watch it. Very cool hour of TV. I’m excited for the live DMB release that comes out on Tuesday. It was filmed at the Mecca of venues, the Gorge in Washington. A DVD is included with this as well, so hopefully it is equally as cool…
Saturday night Kim and I went see moe. We’ve seen them once before, two years ago at Jammin’ On Main. I hardly remember watching them, but we decided there wasn’t much else going on, so we went. What a show! These guys can really play, and have a huge mix of styles. Their light show is incredible as well. I’ve been hearing that these guys may take over Phish’s crowd once Phish breaks up. I can understand why, they have a great show, and apparently their studio stuff is just as good.
Today was a typical Sunday, we did the laundry and went to the grocery. We almost went to another show tonight, but were way too lazy. Instead we picked up a couple pizzas and watched Something About Mary. Kim almost turned it off, but I made her watch it and I think she actually enjoyed it. The editing they did to the movie was hysterical, at one time someone was called a froggin ashpole. I was on the floor laughing so hard.
I’m pretty tired already tonight, so I think it may be an early night for me. Back to work tomorrow…
I put our pictures up from the wedding and from Deer Creek. I’ll have to get Kim to put captions below the wedding pics since I’m really bad with names, and I don’t know as many people as she does…
My webserver seems to be running abnormally slow, and I have no clue what the problem is. Does anyone have an extra PC they want to donate? :)
Deer Creek. What can I say? It was the same as always, an unbelievable time! We got into Sleepy Bear in the early afternoon on Sunday. Immediately we set up shop and starting pregamming for the shows. Sarnovsky and Pitcock decided to switch at the last minute from staying at Dead Creek to join us over at Sleepy Bear. Great decision! We played a ton of cornhole as well. It has been a long time since I’ve played, and it showed when I didn’t win a game the entire weekend…
Night 1 was incredible. Seeing Dave come out to introduce OAR was something I’ve always dreamed of saying. To sum it up he said something like, many of you probably already know them, but if you don’t I’m sure you will after this show. They played a good 6 song setlist after than and then DMB played a solid set of new and old. The after party was my favorite though. Mike, Joe DiDia and I stayed up until the sun was coming up. The time was just flying by. Thank god it was chilly overnight, I was able to sleep in until around 10…
This is when Day 2 started. The same usual daily activities with a lunch at Qdoba thrown in. Mike agreed with me and said that it is good but it is no Chipotle. The show this night was amazing though. Both bands’ setlists were incredible, and the energy was insane, even during OAR. Sarnovsky estimated a crowd of 17000 for OAR and that is huge! The return of Best Of Whats Around was reason enough to love this show. One of my favorite shows ever!
Now it’s back to work though, booooooooo.
Well the time has come, I’m leaving for Deer Creek in just a couple of minutes. Kim had her fun this weekend, now it is time for mine. :) Actually the wedding was a ton of fun, although I was volunteered for every job possible. I ended up filming almost the entire mass and the first half of the reception for Emily’s family. Hopefully it turns out to be alright for them.
The first two shows of this DMB/OAR tour have looked awesome. OAR gets 45 minutes to play and have been turning some heads apparently. I can’t wait to see 2 full shows over the next couple days!
It looks as if my parents are here to drop me off out there, so I will return with a full review…
The New Theatre was awesome! We got there at 6:15 and immediately went to our table. We had a two person table so that we wouldn’t have to sit with a 3rd wheel or anything like that. :) We were served salads along with bread and a few drinks. They have a buffet style dinner which didn’t thrill me too much until we actually went down and got the food. It was really really good. There was pretty much something for everyone down there and it was all very tasty! Then the play we were seeing (Barefoot In The Park) started. Neither of us knew much about it going into the play, but we were both pleasantly surprised. It was very good and very easy to follow along. There were a total of 6 or 7 characters in the entire play and it all took place in the newlyweds apartment. This was a great date and we may have to think about going back sometime…
Saturday was the Woodside pool party. We headed up that way with Todd around noon. We reserved some chairs for the crew that would be coming later and ordered some drinks. Our membership card functions as a credit card, in that we can charge food and drinks to our account. This could get ugly, but I guess we will really only use it on the weekends. I got sunburn from my lazily applied sunscreen. I thought that I covered everything that was exposed, but apparently I missed a spot on one of my shoulders following along my collar bone to the middle of my chest. It really hurts today, but I guess I can be thankful that it isn’t my whole body. I’m not sure that I can go back in the sun until this fades though, it looks pretty ridiculous…
Sunday was a typical day of errands. We did some shopping for the weddings that we have coming up, went to the driving range, etc. I did get a chance to stop over at the Chapman Recording Studios to see Tanner and company record for about an hour or two. Very nice facilities with flat screen TV’s, leather couches, all the goods. Most of the time while I was there we watched Mike lay down rhythm guitar for just a couple of tracks. I must have heard “Madeline” about 10893 times. It used to be one of my favorites, but now I hope to never hear it again. :) After all of this was done we had a party over at Susan’s place. Usually we watch the Sopranos, and we did again, but this time it was the first episode ever. Kind of interesting to see how the show all started since I never watched it before this season. I think we are going to try to watch all of the seasons in the downtime before season six starts. The show that runs at the same time that Sopranos did is Six Feet Under. Everyone who has seen this show before hyped it up, but I’m not sure I can get into this show. It has much more drama involved that the Sopranos does. I needed to see a couple of good wackings…
My hockey league starts back up tonight!!! I’ve been waiting for something other than this running crap. :)
Let’s see…
I’ve been busy with work of course, and we had a brief workout last night.
I met up with Todd and Phil at the Brooksider last night for a few drinks and also so that I could borrow Todd’s car. Kim needed her ride to go out to take a test today, so I got stuck with a Lexus. Damn. :)
Tonight Kim and I are heading to the New Theatre to see Barefoot In The Park. This is a dinner theatre that I bought tickets for back at Christmas time. I’ve heard that the play is good, so hopefully we have a good date…
On Saturday we have a pool party during the day at Woodside. That should be a good time, discount drinks and such. Hopefully I’ll get some tan going on, I haven’t been out in the sun since Vegas…
So this week hasn’t been terribly exciting, we have just been going to the gym, cooking dinner, Kim will study while I play on the computer, and then it is time for bed. We finally get a break from that tonight, but only because we are going to our second golf lesson. It has been raining a bunch of today, so it might have to be an inside lesson. Thank god this is the putting and chipping class. I couldn’t imagine driving balls into a net for practice…
I think we are gonna have dinner with Doni & Phil afterwards at a Mexican restaurant. We did this last week, and they picked up the tab, so it is our turn this time. Hopefully the service is better this time around…
A ton of my friends are all leaving for Bonnaroo and I am extremely jealous. They almost had me convinced to try and make it down there, but then I realized there was no way possible for me to miss any work. I expect many phone calls from them, and hopefully they all have a blast. I’m sure they will, how could you not?
This has to be quick since I’m already late leaving work. The spinning class was interesting at first. The instructor was very into it and often times would be dancing around the room, singing along to the music (but not the correct words). I would just look at Kim and laugh. After about 20 minutes or so, the class was no longer interesting it was HARD. We did a 45 minute class, and I don’t think I’ve worked out that hard since high school. I can’t imagine doing one of the hour long classes. After it was all over though I actually felt pretty good (minus a few areas in my legs) and enjoyed it too. We have to go at least 4 more times, and I think it will be a once a week kind of thing. It costs extra each time you take a class, but only a few dollars. Anyway, I’m off to the gym again…
What a tiring weekend, or at least I thought so. I think I slept in until at least noon every day. Maybe I was just catching up from the previous week…
Friday we went to BB’s Lawnside Bar-B-Que after work for happy hour with some of the folks I work with. Always fun to hang out with others outside of work with some beers! We didn’t stick around for the blues show that night since we were trying to keep it a cheap weekend.
Saturday we did all kinds of errands. I picked up a couple of suits that Phil can no longer wear. A big thanks to him and to Doni as well for helping determine what fit well. I think I only need to lose a few more pounds and the pants should fit just right! I also picked up some dress shoes which are way more tolerable than any other pair that I have ever worn. I’m almost ready for all of these upcoming weddings.
Later in the night we went downtown to see Tanner and Co. play along with a few other bands. This was the finals for the KC competition to be on The Rock Boat. They have all been in the studio recently recording a CD, and it seems like it has helped them to play even better together. They sounded great and ended up winning the competition!!! Next step is to Birmingham, and if they win there they are on the boat. Kim and I thought about going on the this cruise but in the end decided not to, but we figured we would help Tanner get on there regardless. Hopefully I can make it out to their studio next weekend while they are doing some recording…
Sunday we hit up the driving range, where I continued to wack the crap out of the ball. I think I might actually like this golf stuff. :) Later on in the night we headed to Doni & Phil’s for an Italian dinner and to watch the Sopranos. Not a bad episode, but not a good one either. Now that this season is over, I think we are gonna rent the full seasons and watch from the beginning…
Tonight we are heading back to Woodside, and we are going to take a spinning class. I’ve never done this before, so I’m sure I’ll have a full report tomorrow…
