A few weeks ago I had a problem with my hard drives nearly all filling up. The biggest problem was that the drive my web server is on was completely full, which actually caused Apache to shut down. Turns out I had a really large error.log file from Apache. So once I deleted that file, reconfigured the log file settings to output less, and restarted the server all was well. But I figure it’s only a matter of time before I start running out of space again, so I just bought a new 1 TB hard drive from newegg.com. I’ve been watching both slickdeals.net and fatwallet.com for the last couple of weeks and finally decided this deal was good enough.

To sum it up, I bought a new toy and can’t wait for it to get here.

My “I’m so old” comment; When I started working, the orientation video boasted “We have THREE TERABYTES of storage!!!” Now you can pick that up for a coupla hundred bucks at Newegg. (And I don’t think they have any idea how much we have at work any more…)

If I remember correctly, our first home computer had a 640k hard drive in it. Times really have changed.

i still have our first computer, it has 640k ram running at a screaming 2mhz with a turbo switch to boost it to 4mhz. i believe the hard drive is 32mb and the monitor is monochrome green. i think there is even a 28k modem in it and there is also an 80 character wide dot matrix printer attached. the operating system is msdos version 3.2, no windows, all command line based. i should fire it up and see if it all still works…

Duh, 640k ram not hard drive. Forgot about the turbo boost, haha.

I remember the turbo switches, SWEET. My 486 SX had that… Like you would ever switch off something called “turbo.”
