Finally Back Up

Sorry about the downtime this weekend, but I think that I have finally fixed this latest issue. Turns out Microsoft may not be to blame after all. For some reason my router thought that my computer had a virus on it and I think it was limiting it’s connection to the internet. I just had to reset the router and everything was back to normal. Now I just need to figure out how to stop it from doing this again…

This weekend was a good one but went by a little too fast. Friday night I did go to the Shaking Tree show with Steve, his friend Marcus and his girlfriend. They played quite a bit of new material and will have a CD coming out in the next couple months…

Saturday night I went out with Mike to the Granfalloon. We watched some basketball and ended up being there for a long time. Good times again though…

Sunday I took care of some errands and also had a hockey game. The pretty typical Sunday. I couldn’t fall asleep last night so that should make for an interesting Monday…

I put up some pictures of the new apartment, go check them out…

Sick Again?

Well Kim left for Cincinnati this morning. Her friend Julie is getting married later this summer and Kim is going to be a bridesmaid. I guess they are all getting together for a bachelorette dinner and to get fitted for everything…

I think the move got me sick yet again. What is that like seven times so far this winter? At first I blamed it on allergies, but there is no way that’s all this is. What really confuses me is that I’m healthier now than I have been the past 5 years, at least. Anyway, Kim talked me into making an appointment with an allergist. Guess I’m finally going to figure out what I’ve been allergic to all these years. I think that it’s anything that smells. :)

I might be headed to a Shaking Tree show tonight with Steve Christy. It all depends on how I feel as this day goes on. Not too sure about plans for the rest of the weekend, although I’ll probably get together with Mike and his buddies for a guys night out!

We are completely moved in to the new apartment. Actually I think I forgot to move the big mirror, but I can do that pretty quickly this weekend. It is so nice to be done, finally.

You Know You’re From Cincinnati When…

Your idea of a three-way is chili over spaghetti topped with cheddar. (Had a three-way last night!)
You know what goetta is – and you’ve eaten it. (Just had it recently)
You hate Cleveland, but you don’t know why, and you’ve never been there. (But I have been to Cleveland, it’s a dump :)
You think Pete Rose and Marge Schott were railroaded.
You say “Please?” instead of “Excuse me?” (I say “What?” or “Huh?”)
You think Northern Kentucky is part of Ohio.
You’ve been to California, Wyoming, Coney Island, and Over-the-Rhine in one day.
There are less than 100 murders a year, and you still think you’re in Detroit. (Detroit is a dump too :)
You think Dayton is a Third World country.
What groundhog? It’s the St. Patrick’s Day parade leprechaun that forecasts how much longer winter will last.
Losing football teams draw more fans than winning baseball teams.
Indiana is about 20 miles away, but it takes about four hours to get there (especially for Christmas)
It’s too cold in the winter, and too hot and humid in the summer, to ever stay outside for very long.
You drive to Columbus or Louisville to avoid the prices at the Cincinnati airport. (Indianapolis for me)
City council members hold debates on whether or not they should debate in the first place.
Tourists still flock downtown to catch a glimpse of cast members from “WKRP,” even though the show hasn’t aired on network television since 1984, and the show was filmed in LA anyway. (I must be too young)
You ask lifetime residents where the President Taft house is, but they don’t know either. (I have no clue)
If you do something — anything — in public long enough, sooner or later it will be banned.
Your low-fat diet is never low enough to exclude Graeter’s ice cream.
You get through winter listening to Marty and Joe’s broadcasts from the grapefruit leagues.
Big Red Smokies are a ballpark treat, not cause to dial 9-1-1. (Not a treat for me)
If necessary, the city could easily be sliced into two new cities: East and West, and it would take 20 years for anyone to notice something happened. (Kim and i might notice)
Chocolate and cinnamon, not peppers and beans, are in your chili.
You can drive 30 minutes in any direction to hear a different accent than your own. (Florence Y’all)
You can accurately judge people’s social status by which Kroger’s store they frequent.
You can go to any church festival in any neighborhood on any weekend and see at least five people you either work with, went to school with, or dated.
Even the slightest mention of former baseball commissioner A. Bartlett Giamatti makes your blood boil and your ears steam.
If the temperature hits 45 degrees, and the sun comes out in any month between November and April, people walk around downtown wearing shades and no jackets.
The top stories on the local 6 o’clock evening news look suspiciously like the articles you read in the newspaper that very morning — and even use the same quotes.
Any carbonated beverage is a “coke.” (or pop)
Your favorite convenient store sounds like a labor union. (UDF)
You can’t hear the words “Mike Brown” without getting angry.
You honestly believe that Pete Rose should be in the Baseball Hall Fame. (Why not?)
You have more stadiums, coliseums, and arenas than you know what to do with.
It doesn’t seem weird to you that everyone has an Uncle Al. (I only have a Great Uncle Al)
Your favorite Coney Island isn’t in New York. (New York has a Coney Island too?)
You like Nick Clooney better than George Clooney.
You know how Jerry Springer got his start.
You know what a pony keg is. (The beer container or the drive thru?)
You have friends and neighbors with names like Machenheimer, Guckenberger, Schlottman, Schoenling, and Schweitering. (Just the Burch’s)
You know that cars (like eggs) are cheaper in the country.
An all-boys or all-girls school doesn’t seem that odd to you. (Go Big Moe!)
You think a mixed marriage is when an East Sider marries a West Sider.
You know the difference between Hudy and “Who Dey.”
You know what cream ale is, and you think that cream soda should be bright red.
You think Kentucky is only slightly more civilized than Afghanistan.
You know in which state the Greater Cincinnati Airport is located.
You actually understand the word, “CRAVE” and white castle burgers. (Sliders)
You can almost name the seven “hills” minus one or two. (Again I have no clue)
You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from Cincinnati. (Sorry to anyone who isn’t from Cincinnati)

I Am $307.47 Richer!

Well my iPod just sold on eBay for $307.47 plus shipping and insurance, what a deal! I may well be on my way to a freeipodshuffle as well thanks to Kim and Amy, just waiting on them both to confirm! This is too much fun. I signed up today for a free laptop that requires 18 referrals. Not sure if I’ll ever get that many, but I’ve joined a conga group where links are randomly used by new user to the site. I need to confirm my own offer first I guess, more on this later…

I put some pictures up earlier today from the old apartment. We have everything but one large mirror moved into the new place, so I’ll have to get some more pictures soon. Kim will be gone all weekend, so that gives me plenty of time to do so…

Time for bed…

Auction Ends Today

First off, my iPod auction is ending later today and it is currently at $215. This should go up quite a bit in the last few hours. There have been 27 bids so far, and 23 people are watching the auction. Hopefully I can get near the $300 level! Here is the link to the auction…

After the gym last night we ran into our new neighbor Nick. I believe he lives by himself in apartment 2. He wanted to see our apartment, so we gave him a little tour and then checked out his place. He painted many of the walls a dark blue, just like my bedroom at my parents, very cool. His porch is awesome, really made it look good. Maybe well have to get him over to work on ours when it gets warmer out. Anyway, the bedroom ceiling was painted so we moved in all of the bedroom stuff. We also moved the turtle tank and brought Amstel into the new apartment. He still doesn’t really fit in very well. We tried the office, but it was too cramped to have his large cage in there. Currently he is next to the dining room table. The only thing left to move is the fish tank. I’ll have to do that either tonight or tomorrow night since the electric in the old apartment is being turned off on Friday. We are just about finished, and I’m ready for it all to be done…

Almost Done!

Well we moved over more stuff last night. We cleaned out all of the junk in our old closets, condensed it into rubbermaid tubs and put it in our new utility closet. The stack of boxes is pretty large, but we got everything in there including two sets of golf clubs. We are still waiting on them to finish painting the bedroom ceiling, so hopefully they do that today and we can move over the bedroom tonight. After that we only have the pets to move. Should be able to get it done pretty soon, and we have to. The gas was turned off yesterday and the temperature is already between 60 and 65. I believe the electric is being turned off on Friday. I love the new apartment so much already. There is so much space and the office is a wonderful addition!

My iPod is already up over $100 with a day and a half left. Get your bid in now! :)

Weekend Update

So, we started moving stuff after work on Friday. Kim got home before I did and started cleaning the kitchen, then did all of the floors and then worked on the bathroom. She was just about done with the kitchen as I walked in, so I started moving everything from our old kitchen into the new. I never realized how much stuff was in a kitchen, but it has definitely been the longest room to move so far. By the end of the night we just about had the whole kitchen moved over so we rewarded ourselves with some pizza from Papa Johns…

The next morning I woke up to a bagel and coffee and then we immediately began moving things again. One of the guys who helps run the buildings came over to fix our furnace, the water heater and a few other miscellaneous things. We finally had heat and hot water! Doni & Phil stopped over later to help out as well. Phil and I moved the computer over to the new apartment and sat down to install Windows XP on it. After booting it up, I tried to show him the problems I was having but what do you know, everything was working just fine. We decided not to mess with it, at least for now. So the site should be back up and hopefully it will remain that way. I think that I will just hold off on installing anymore hotfixes. I forgot to mention that we had leftover pizza for lunch and then ordered in even more pizza for dinner from Pizza Hut. I love pizza and could eat it all the time, but I didn’t think Kim felt the same. She really didn’t complain though. After dinner we played Euchre with our guests and at the end of the night we had almost everything moved over but the pets, bedroom stuff and the one custom closets systems that is full of junk. We are going to try and clean that out before moving it over to the new apartment. We’ll see how that goes tonight…

Yesterday I moved all of my clothes over. I am very happy with the amount of closet space we have now. We also moved over some other miscellaneous things then needed to hit up Target for a few items. Mainly we were in need of a shower curtain. We found a nice one that matches the redish color that we seem to buy all the time: towels, curtains, rugs, etc. We then stopped in at the Brooksider for a bit and saw the end of the first playoff game. I thought I had a hockey game, but after driving out to the rink I was told that the zamboni was broken and all games were cancelled. So I drove back home and spent the rest of the night watching TV, mostly Desperate Housewives. Oh yeah, I also got my iPod up on eBay. Anyone care to make a small bid on it to get the bidding started? :)

Damnit!!

I’m sure some of you noticed the downtime yesterday. It seems that these three windows hotfixes that I installed for windows 2000 screwed up my entire machine. It was like my computer wasn’t connected to the net at all. Couldn’t get on IM, couldn’t sign in to all kinds of different sites, etc. I uninstalled these hotfixes, but still had the problems. So once again I took my computer off of the router and it works again. WTF? This is ridiculous! Nothing has changed on the router at all since I had it all working. I am blaming this completely on the morons at Microsoft. There are ways to get around them right now like installing Linux or something, but I don’t think I’m ready for that quite yet. So I guess I’m going to try installing windows XP on my machine and see if it is any better. I’m really out of ideas. I thought I would just be moving this weekend, but it turns out I’ll have to deal with this crap too…

OARaroo

The initial lineup for this years Bonnaroo Music Festival has been announced, and I want to go more than I ever have before. I really don’t know how I can though, I only get 10 days vacation and a floating holiday. Right now I’m using 3 days for San Diego, and I’m sure I’ll use another 3 to 4 for the cruise and extra time in New Orleans. So I’m up to 6 or 7 already without any trips to Ohio. I might have to just go to Wakarusa and pretend that it is just as good. Only time will tell…

We got a key for the new apartment last night. There are a few minor repairs that I hope will get done soon. Kim called the electric and gas companies and they should be started asap! Once we have light we can start cleaning, although heat might not be a bad idea either. Everything should work out for a weekend move!

Tsunami Not Tsumani

It is amazing how many people cannot spell Tsunami, myself included. I added a subdirectory for my pictures called Tsumani Relief and because of this I have been getting more traffic than normal to my site. I guess Tsumani does not turn up as many results as Tsunami so my site is listed much closer to the top than it normally would be. Regardless, welcome to anyone new! :)
