It’s Here…

My very own iPod is here! Not for too long though, I’m not even going to open it, so that I can get more money for it on eBay. Nothing like $300 for free. :)
If you want to do something like this sign up for my freeipodshuffle.com link. There are some other offers out there as well that I may be signing up for soon. I’ll keep you updated…

Time To Move

If you haven’t already noticed, I’ve added some pictures to the site. I finally snapped a few pictures of the plaza lights over the weekend, so definitely check those out if you’ve never seen them in person…

My freeipod is supposed to be shipped here to work today, we’ll see if it shows up. I am going to sell it though, I think I’ll use the money to by things for the new apartment. Which by the way is pretty much a done deal. They are supposed to be dropping off keys today, so we’ll begin cleaning it and hopefully move this weekend! I know that we will be needing a shower curtain since our shower now is a standing one with a built in door. We’ll also need to get some bar stools, and I’m sure some other things will be needed as well. I’m really excited. I’ll try and take some pictures of the apartment now and then get some of the new one once we get it cleaned or all set up…

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my momma’s birthday! It is also MLK day. What am I doing at work???

I keep on remembering more and more things. My new black mollies had babies! I spent an hour yesterday trying to catch 3 of these guys so they didn’t get sucked into the filter like a few of their siblings already did. Add 3 more animals to our jungle!

Staying Where We Are

Wichita was a good time. We get to Steve’s place and immediately head down to the venue for the show. We get there just as the place runs out of beer. I guess they just had one keg or something, I never did get the whole story. Anyway the show was a good one. The venue is an old theatre that is restored on the outside but not so much on the inside. It is decent though, just showing signs of its age. From there we went to a few bars. The highlight of the night was definitely in America’s Pub where we sat at a table and watched the dance floor. Quite an interesting mix of people were in attendance and they provided non stop laughs for us. A good night in Wichita!

Saturday we drove home and headed straight towards our never ending day of apartment tours. It started off pretty bad with SoHo West where we saw what I hope is their worst building. It wasn’t terrible but it was a definite downgrade from where we are now. Kitchens from the 80s were in each unit we saw. Next up was the River Market Lofts. Again, not very impressive. We then had extra time so we stopped in at Clubhouse Lofts which is in the old Kansas City Club (one of those exclusive male only places you often hear about). This is our favorite of the places we saw. It just had a great feeling to it and the units were amazing. They are only a year old and some of the units have never been lived in at all. This of course comes with a price that we probably can’t afford right now. We will keep this in mind though. We then went to our last appointment of the day at Library Lofts, probably the runner up in our hunt. Their workout center is very nice. The units are carpeted for the most part, but it is new and looks pretty good. One thing we didn’t really care for was the size of the place, it seems like there were millions of units. This would not be a bad choice though. From here we went home and had dinner and then headed out on the Plaza for a little bit. We met up with Amanda and Joel over at the Granfalloon. Mike and a new friend Jeff also made an appearance. We also went to Tomfooleries before the night was over…

Sunday we woke up and soon realized that we had another appointment with apartments for the day. We went to KC Loft Space. Of course we looked a places on the lower end of the scale, but they were still really nice. I didn’t like them as much as the last two from Saturday but they are a great choice if you want to live in the River Market Area. After a quick lunch at Minsky’s we went to the last place that we wanted to see in the “Great Apartment Search.” This place would be New Quality Hill. They seem to own about 8 blocks of buildings on the west side of downtown. They have everything from large buildings with lots of units all the way down to townhomes. We looked at a few different units and heard some pretty good pricing from them. They are not quite as nice as some of the other places, but seem to be a good value. Kim said that if she knew they were around the same pricing that we have now that she would have considered moving there from the beginning. Another place to keep in mind…
Later in the day we watched more Sopranos and ate dinner at Doni & Phil’s. I then had a hockey game, which we ended up losing, but I think I had a pretty good game. 1 goal and a post in the first shift of the game!

As far as apartments goes, I think we will just be moving across the hall for now. The management is supposed to call today so we can work out the details but it should be no problem at all. Then we will keep these other places in mind for later on. It was nice to see what is out there though…

Woohoo! Another Weekend

Wednesday night I finally played hockey again. It seems like I had a whole month off. It was good to get back out there again.

Last night I went over to the Granfalloon on the plaza for happy hour with our friend Mike from Kim’s office. It was good to get out again. Kim was out to dinner for work and met up with us afterward. The walk home was not very fun though. I swear it wasn’t that cold after work but after the bar it was freezing outside. When I woke up this morning it was 5 degrees outside with a windchill of -8 or something ridiculous.

Tonight we are planning to go to Wichita to visit stevechristy and to see a Pomeroy show. I think the weather should be fine for this, a little cold but no precipitation.

Tomorrow we have appointments all over downtown for new apartments. Our latest kick has been talking about moving to a loft or something. We still haven’t heard back about the bigger unit across the hall. We’ll probably call on that soon.

I still haven’t got the free iPod, but I’m already signing up for more offers. They announced new products earlier this week and you can get them for free now. This first one I’m doing is for the new iPod shuffle, an even smaller version than the iPod mini. Click here to sign up for yours!

Hotel, Check!

Well I started my bidding for San Diego and had success very early on. We ended up getting the Hilton San Diego Airport/Harbor Island for $56 a night plus taxes. The total for two rooms came to $385.46 with all charges add in. If we would have booked this hotel through their site it would have been at least $774.15. We saved just about 50% looking at the minimum price! I’m pretty excited for this trip now, I even got my vacation days into work already…

Storied league could be better than ever!

Check out this article in today’s Cincinnati Enquirer about the wonderful GCL! FYI, if you didn’t know that is the league that my high school is in…

San Diego Here I Come

So we drove out to the airport to reserve my flight to San Diego, and we get there 15 minutes after the ticket counter closed. You are probably thinking we got there around 10PM or so, but NO we got there at 7:45…The counter closes at 7:30! The last Delta flight out of KC is at 7:15 or so. Unbelievable. So we find a nice guy who points us towards a not so nice lady at the baggage office. Eventually she gave in and allowed us to pay for my flight (as long as it didn’t involve cash). I got my flight to San Diego for something like $30. :) The total was around $230 but we had $200 from the last time Kim volunteered to be bumped from Cincinnati to KC. Can’t beat that! I will be in San Diego on the night of April 5th and we are flying back on the 9th. Should be a quick but enjoyable trip! Now I have to figure out the hotel accommodations…

Free iPod!

Remember the free iPod deal from a long time ago. Well today I got an email that my free iPod has shipped! I’m still leaning towards selling it, especially since I hardly use the Nomad that I already have (besides for recording). The best part is that I just got done selling my old Canon Elph battery charger. I got $30 dollars for the charger, looks like I need to start searching for more junk to sell. The positive feedback I get form the sell should convince people to bid freely on my auctions. We’ll see what I decide when it actually gets here though.

I also finished up the sonic website today. Check it out at www.northlandsonic.com!

I guess the talk of San Diego before pushed Doni & Phil to book a flight so Kim is also working on ours. We still have a voucher to use from Delta, so we have to drive out to the airport tonight to use it since we do not have any ticket offices here in town. Guess I should narrow down the hotel decisions…

Bobbi & Chris Visit

After work Friday we picked Bobbi and Chris up from the airport and headed back to our apartment for some drinks, checkers, music, darts, etc. Doni and Phil stopped over as well. This led to a brief discussion about our April trip to San Diego. I am now incharge of getting our hotel figured out. I think I’ll start bidding on priceline sometime soon. The rest of the night was a good time. It ended with the GCL (Chris and me) beating the GGCL (Kim and Bobbi) 2-1 in a few games of darts!

Saturday Kim and I made a big breakfast consisting of waffles, turkey bacon and goetta that Chris brought from Cincy. Doni and Phil came over again since they had never had goetta before. I too am relatively new to this stuff even though I lived in Cincy for quite some time. I must say that it is not bad stuff though. After breakfast we shopped on the Plaza for a few hours. Later in the day we headed down to Southwest Boulevard to have a late lunch at one of the authentic Mexican restaurants down there. Another good meal there, we have yet to be disappointed by any of the restaurants there. We then went to Union Station to see the train displays and we also watched a movie on natural disasters on the Extreme Screen. From there I took everyone on my own little tour of Kansas City. We first drove by Kauffman Stadium and Arrowhead Stadium. Next was a trip to Independence, MO which is the home of Harry Truman. I was pretty much out of ideas from there, but I knew that Bobbi and Chris needed to at least visit Kansas. I drove down to the most logical place I could think of, the Sprint world headquarters, haha. I guess Kansas really isn’t that exciting of a place. We finally decided to go to the Outlaws hockey game at Kemper Arena. They got killed by Kalamazoo but at least it was a good time. Pictures are now up from the day…

Sunday we had to drop them back off at the airport, but first we had lunch at Gates BBQ. I told them they had to have Kansas City BBQ before they left, and this place is quite the experience. After dropping them off, we had quite the typical Sunday. Grocery shopping, cleaning, etc. Later in the night we went over to Susans for tacos and Sopranos. That marked the end of another good weekend!
