Press On Monmouth

My family and I stopped into Press on Monmouth for a quick Saturday lunch. It took us a few moments to place our orders at the counter, due to the surprisingly lengthy amount of choices on the menu. Once placed we were given a number for a table and we found a seat at a hightop table near the back of the spacious restaurant.

Our orders were quickly delivered to our table with a smile. I went with the Cubano sandwich served with pork, ham, pickle, mustard, and swiss on a grilled and pressed roll with pasta salad on the side ($10). This was a true to form traditional Cuban sandwich and was well prepared. I was satisfied with my choice and would happily order this again. Nothing of note, just a very solid Cuban.

My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich with smashed avocado, bacon, cheddar, and chipotle sauce on ciabatta and dressed greens on the side ($11.50). She was also happy with her selection and commented on the wonderful addition of chipotle sauce to compliment the sweeter flavor of the avocado.

We had a great first visit to Press on Monmouth and will gladly return in the future when in Northern Kentucky.

Ramsey’s Trailside

My parents have lived out in Loveland for roughly 30 years. I spent a lot of my youth there and have been amazed by the growth of the historic downtown business district. The bike trail that runs through the center of town has always been a hit, and many of the restaurants are located very nearby. None are closer to the trail than Ramsey’s Tailside. My family and I have met my parents are Ramsey’s a couple of times now.

Fajita Bowl

Fajita Bowl

On the first visit, I tried the fajita bowl with brown rice, black beans, fire-roasted corn salsa, shredded cheddar cheese, fresh grilled onions and peppers, and topped with fresh guacamole and sour cream ($9 + $4 for chicken). Overall I found the bowl to be appropriately sized, though, for the most part, I found it to be fairly bland in flavor. I think spicing up the rice, chicken, and even the salsa would be beneficial to this dish.

Zucchini Noodle Thai Bowl

Zucchini Noodle Thai Bowl

My wife had the zucchini noodle Thai bowl with zucchini noodles, bell peppers, mushrooms, and sauteed onions in a Thai peanut sauce ($9 + $4 for chicken). The flavor of this bowl was a lot better than the fajita bowl. The Thai sauce was plentiful and very good!

Tacos

Tacos

On a second visit, I tried the chicken tacos topped with fire-roasted corn salsa, shredded cabbage, cotija cheese, and chipotle cilantro lime dressing. This was also served with brown rice and black beans ($13). I liked this more than the fajita bowl but still felt that it was missing a little something. With that said our service has been excellent and the location along the trail is great.
