Along with the basement project, we have other projects in mind for the house. First we are trying to get the remaining six original windows replaced, and hopefully the front door as well. We’ve had a few companies visit for a free estimate and price quote. I had no idea windows were so expensive! And to make it worse, the prices range between companies more than I would have thought. It’s the equivalent of choosing between Toyota, Lexus, and Bentley. I hope that analogy works. Anyway, feel free to leave any tips or tricks in the comments.

Look at the bright side, we had to put in 28 of those stupid things, plus a sliding glass door. Crap I coulda had 3 motorcycles for that much. They make a difference though I guess. We ended up with good ol’ Champions; Not what I would have picked for our 75 year old house but then my opinion wasn’t asked for…

    I don’t think Kim would accept anything less than a Bentley – you know I wouldn’t :)

    28?!?!? Holy crap!

I think we are going to end up going with the Toyota. Get the most bang for the buck, ya know?

If they are like cars can we just lease them for a couple years?

Since the lease worked so well the last time we did it?

Look for the ones that are easy to clean. The Lexus sounds good to me. Not to Low Not to High but just safe right in the middle. Are Champion Windows available in Denver? You might want to even check with Lowe’s or Home Depot. GOOD LUCK!!

I’ll have to check with the cleaning people on their window preference. Wait, we don’t have cleaning people. Unfortunately, I think they are the only ones who will ever clean windows.

Champion was the first place we went. They are the Lexus of the group, with their price falling in the middle. However, I don’t think they can make windows large enough for one of our openings. Also I think we need a steel reinforced frame, which the Toyota’s actually offer and Champion does not.

Good grief how big a window do you need?  They made that big one in our TV room that took the place of the three singles.  I don’t even know what a steel reinforced frame is… Sounds nice though.

Our biggest is about 4.5 feet wide and over 6 feet tall. We have three others that are the same height, one of them is almost as wide.
