I went on the Boulevard Brewery tour on Saturday afternoon, which has to be at least the sixth time I’ve gone in the past couple of years. I was hoping that we would get to see the new expansion, but I guess it isn’t quite complete yet. The outside looks done but there is still much to do inside. Therefore the tour was pretty standard until we got to the tasting room.

In the past I’ve had some excellent experimental brews, including the Whiskey Porter, a personal favorite, but they had three different experimentals on tap Saturday! According to the tour guide, they are considering adding to their beer lineup once the expansion is complete. We were lucky enough to sample each of these new brews: a saison, a tripel, and a dark unfiltered wheat. The saison was very popular with the crowd. It was lighter than the tripel, which was my favorite of the bunch.

Tours are now available at four times every Saturday: 10AM, 12PM, 2PM, and 4PM. I highly recommend this FREE attraction.

I think they are planning a mid-September dedication ceremony, so I doubt it will be ready before then. You’ll just have to make another trip out to visit.

The dark wheat interests me… That’s my favorite beer, German-style anyway. Their regular wheat isn’t too “German” so I wonder how the dark holds up.
