Gabe-Cam

We’ve been so boring since we got back from San Diego. I guess this is part of our quarantine process.

Tuesday night we watched TV, mostly American Idol episodes from the past couple of weeks. I didn’t see the results show last night because of hockey, so don’t ruin it for me yet.

Phil setup a webcam on his site in hopes of one day being able to see their new dog “Gabe” and whether or not he is still in his crate or not. I guess he has already broken out at least once, haha. This has got me thinking about trying to get my webcam up and running, so you all can see my turtles in action. We’ll see if I have any luck with that.

Amy (Kim’s college roommate) is coming to town this weekend, hopefully she brings some excitement with her, this blog could really use it. :)

Stupid Colds

I’m doing something I never do, making a post during the weekend. It has been one of those weekends though. Friday was great! We went straight from work to Brio for some dinner and a bottle of wine. Everything was very good and I hope we can go back there sometime soon. We thought about staying out for a movie or something, but instead we opted to watch a movie at home. We still had a ton of movies from Doni and Phil, so we decided on A Mighty Wind. Pretty funny “mockumentary” about folk bands. I think we both fell asleep watching it, but it was decent enough from what I can remember.

Saturday I woke up feeling a little groggy. It got worse as the day went on however, and by the end of the night I was miserable. I blame this completely on work. My boss Steve left at lunch time on Friday, and Margaret (the lady I share an office with) was out sick as well. Something is definitely going around the office, and unfortunately I caught it. We spent most of the day in front of the TV. I believe it started with episodes of Sex And The City followed up by Addicted To Love. Not a bad movie at all. I was thinking it was going to be some sort of chick flick, but it was actually pretty funny and entertaining. We then watched Collateral, yes another Jamie Foxx movie. This was a thriller type movie that kept us both awake, so it must have been pretty good. We then attempted to watch another movie, but the DVD player was getting all messed up, it must have been overheating. So with nothing left to do we watched the end of Animal House on TV and called it a night.

Nothing too exciting yet for today. We have some errands to run in a little bit and I have a hockey game tonight. I hope that I feel good enough to play…

Weekend!

The first week of 2005 is almost over, moving quickly so far! Let’s see, Wednesday night I took some time to work on the sonic website. It is now complete and we are working on buying a domain name and some hosting space. It should be up in the next couple days. You can see the page here. As always feedback is welcome…

Last night we had finally had enough of being cooped up all night so we headed to the Brooksider and met up with Todd, Phil and Doni. The bearcats had a big win, so that was a nice surprise. It was only the second or third time I’ve seen them play this year. Now with replaytv I should be able to record them all the time though! By the way, I am growing very fond of it already. I have not tried to take a movie from the unit and put it on my computer yet, but maybe sometime this weekend I will do that.

Tonight Kim’s sister Bobbi and her boyfriend Chris are coming to visit for the weekend. Hopefully we can show them a good time while they are here!

I almost forgot, here is something to cure your boredom. Incredible pictures from the Hubble telescope.

Friday night was a relaxing night. We made spaghetti and watched some of Kim’s Sex And The City DVD. It actually isn’t a terrible show like I was expecting. We were a little tired from the night before, so didn’t stay up too late. We also needed to rest up for a big Saturday…

Saturday was our shop till you drop day, and I think I dropped a couple times. We got just about everything done though, so at least we won’t have to go back out. We started before noon and were still out at 7 or 8. Later that night we had Kim’s friend through work Amanda and her boyfriend Joel over to our place for some cards and drinks. It was a very fun night, hopefully we can do it again soon…

Sunday we finished up a couple more shopping things that we needed to do and I got my Christmas present from my parents, new tires for the car. Later on my hockey team beat the previously undefeated team in our league. The game ended in a shootout, which we dominated. I had a couple beers with the guys afterwards, and then that was the end of the weekend…

Oh yeah, I almost forgot and I’m not sure how. Kim and I checked out a two bedroom apartment in our building and fell in love with it. I think they want $825 a month for the two bedrooms, but we told her $700. She is supposed to get back with us, hopefully sometime soon. I’m ready to move into it now, it has everything we have now and even more. There is a dishwasher as well as a washer and dryer. Also has a security system, but I’m not sure if that is something you have to pay for or what, I’m not familiar with them. The kitchen in this unit is amazing, there is even a bar built in! The storage space is definitely more than we have, and with an extra room we can have our own office. I’m already sold on it no matter what price they say, I’m just trying to get it as low as possible. :)

The New Theatre was awesome! We got there at 6:15 and immediately went to our table. We had a two person table so that we wouldn’t have to sit with a 3rd wheel or anything like that. :) We were served salads along with bread and a few drinks. They have a buffet style dinner which didn’t thrill me too much until we actually went down and got the food. It was really really good. There was pretty much something for everyone down there and it was all very tasty! Then the play we were seeing (Barefoot In The Park) started. Neither of us knew much about it going into the play, but we were both pleasantly surprised. It was very good and very easy to follow along. There were a total of 6 or 7 characters in the entire play and it all took place in the newlyweds apartment. This was a great date and we may have to think about going back sometime…

Saturday was the Woodside pool party. We headed up that way with Todd around noon. We reserved some chairs for the crew that would be coming later and ordered some drinks. Our membership card functions as a credit card, in that we can charge food and drinks to our account. This could get ugly, but I guess we will really only use it on the weekends. I got sunburn from my lazily applied sunscreen. I thought that I covered everything that was exposed, but apparently I missed a spot on one of my shoulders following along my collar bone to the middle of my chest. It really hurts today, but I guess I can be thankful that it isn’t my whole body. I’m not sure that I can go back in the sun until this fades though, it looks pretty ridiculous…

Sunday was a typical day of errands. We did some shopping for the weddings that we have coming up, went to the driving range, etc. I did get a chance to stop over at the Chapman Recording Studios to see Tanner and company record for about an hour or two. Very nice facilities with flat screen TV’s, leather couches, all the goods. Most of the time while I was there we watched Mike lay down rhythm guitar for just a couple of tracks. I must have heard “Madeline” about 10893 times. It used to be one of my favorites, but now I hope to never hear it again. :) After all of this was done we had a party over at Susan’s place. Usually we watch the Sopranos, and we did again, but this time it was the first episode ever. Kind of interesting to see how the show all started since I never watched it before this season. I think we are going to try to watch all of the seasons in the downtime before season six starts. The show that runs at the same time that Sopranos did is Six Feet Under. Everyone who has seen this show before hyped it up, but I’m not sure I can get into this show. It has much more drama involved that the Sopranos does. I needed to see a couple of good wackings…

My hockey league starts back up tonight!!! I’ve been waiting for something other than this running crap. :)

What a tiring weekend, or at least I thought so. I think I slept in until at least noon every day. Maybe I was just catching up from the previous week…

Friday we went to BB’s Lawnside Bar-B-Que after work for happy hour with some of the folks I work with. Always fun to hang out with others outside of work with some beers! We didn’t stick around for the blues show that night since we were trying to keep it a cheap weekend.

Saturday we did all kinds of errands. I picked up a couple of suits that Phil can no longer wear. A big thanks to him and to Doni as well for helping determine what fit well. I think I only need to lose a few more pounds and the pants should fit just right! I also picked up some dress shoes which are way more tolerable than any other pair that I have ever worn. I’m almost ready for all of these upcoming weddings.
Later in the night we went downtown to see Tanner and Co. play along with a few other bands. This was the finals for the KC competition to be on The Rock Boat. They have all been in the studio recently recording a CD, and it seems like it has helped them to play even better together. They sounded great and ended up winning the competition!!! Next step is to Birmingham, and if they win there they are on the boat. Kim and I thought about going on the this cruise but in the end decided not to, but we figured we would help Tanner get on there regardless. Hopefully I can make it out to their studio next weekend while they are doing some recording…

Sunday we hit up the driving range, where I continued to wack the crap out of the ball. I think I might actually like this golf stuff. :) Later on in the night we headed to Doni & Phil’s for an Italian dinner and to watch the Sopranos. Not a bad episode, but not a good one either. Now that this season is over, I think we are gonna rent the full seasons and watch from the beginning…

Tonight we are heading back to Woodside, and we are going to take a spinning class. I’ve never done this before, so I’m sure I’ll have a full report tomorrow…

Back to work for my 3 day week…

For those of you that don’t know, and most probably don’t, my man Dave Matthews will be on VH1’s (Inside)Out this Saturday at 10PM…
Trey Anastasio (Phish) and Dave Matthews’ trip to Dakar, Senegal this past January is documented in an hour-long program and will premier on VH1 on May 8 at 10 PM EST. In the program, Trey and Dave journey to the capital city for a cross-cultural exchange with seminal West African band Orchestra Baobab. Trey and Dave toured around Senegalese capital city Dakar, attended an Africa Cup soccer match (where Senegal edged out South Africa 2-1), gave an acoustic performance off the coast of Dakar on Goree Island, watched singer Baaba Maal perform an intimate show (Trey called it ‘one of the best concert experiences of my life’) and then rehearsed and performed with Orchestra Baobab at “Yengoulene”, a small club in Dakar.
That sounds pretty sweet! I’ll have to try to remember to record it since I will be in Vegas!

Last night I got a phone call from Ed Hearn. Turns out he was on ESPN2’s Cold Pizza on Wednesday to discuss his testimony before a Congressional Subcommittee to request additional funding for research into the kidney disease FSGS, his fight against this disease (including three kidney transplants), and the need for organ donation. From the sound of it, his site could be getting a bunch of hits now! I’m glad we got it up and running before all of this happened, perhaps some people will like my work. He is on the front page of The NephCure Foundation with a link to edhearn.com, check it out!

It’s finally Friday! I’m ready to see some shows this weekend!

2004-03-08

The weekend wasn’t too exciting, Kim and I were both inexplicably tired all weekend. Kim and Doni did take off for St. Louis yesterday afternoon and they will be there the next couple days doing business. That left Phil, Todd and I to watch basketball and drink. :) We ended up watching the sopranos episode last night. I have never seen the show before, but it wasn’t that bad. The hour it was on went by quick, so I guess it had my attention. Maybe I’ll start renting the last 5 or 6 seasons, however many there have been…

Hopefully I have a hockey game tonight. Last week our game was cancelled for no reason…
I need some exercise. :)

“What’s meteorologist mean in English? It means liar.” – Lewis Black
First things first, the weathermen in KC were at least half a foot off. We have about an inch of snow/ice on the ground when they were calling for 8 to 12 inches.

Now onto the Super Bowl. Good game, and it looked great on the 100″ HDTV we watched it on! The half time show sucked. All the songs were at least a few years old, some of them being from my early childhood. The most interesting part of course was when Justin Timberlake exposed Janet Jackson’s boob. “I am sorry that anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction during the halftime performance of the Super Bowl,” Timberlake said in a statement. “It was not intentional and is regrettable.” Timberlake said he did not intend to expose Jackson’s breast. This is a ridiculous statement. We watched the stunt over and over again and it was 100% purposeful. MTV issued a statement in which it also apologized, saying the incident was “unrehearsed, unplanned, completely unintentional and was inconsistent with assurances we had about the content of the performance.” Unbelievable. I won’t post them here, but I’ve seen some very clear pictures floating around the internet…

The one event that they should have showed on TV instead of all this other crap was the streaker that was on the field just before the second half kickoff. We noticed someone dancing near the ball, and then CBS cut away to shots not involving the events. Apparentlyly he was leveled by New England linebacker Matt Chatham as he was being chased by the authorities. I would pay money to see the whole event right now. I hope that some amateur video is out there somewhere. I am told that the man, Mark Francis Roberts, is the most famous streaker in the world and he was advertising for Golden Palace Online Casino.
