Live Rock Added
11019

Two weeks ago I started my very first salt water fish aquarium. Since then I have added some live rocks that I bought from a guy on craigslist. In local stores, these rocks sell for around five or six dollars a pound. Fortunately, this guy was moving soon and needed to clear out his stuff. He offered to sell for two dollars a pound. Perfect, I thought, I could get twenty-five pounds for fifty bucks.

But the deal ended up being even better, when he gave me around forty pounds for fifty bucks. I added all of this rock to the tank two Saturdays ago, and I’ve left the tank running since then. Now I am just waiting for the water to cycle, at which point it will be safe to add additional creatures into the tank. It’s hard to let it sit without fish, but it is necessary if I want this project to be a success.

Fantasy Advice

I continue to excel in the fantasy football leagues which I am doing well, and am still losing in the league where I am not doing so well. I won both games in the leagues where I was in first place, and I continue to be ranked first in both. In the other, I lost yet another game and fell to 2-3. This puts me in 8th of 12 teams. My team isn’t even that bad though, I just am getting some bad weeks I guess. Thoughts on this lineup?

QB: Brett Favre
WR: Donald Driver
WR: Braylon Edwards
WR: Chad Johnson
RB: Cedric Benson
RB: Jerious Norwood
TE: Jeremy Shockey

RB: Willie Parker (usually plays but on a bye)

I also have Donovan McNabb if/when he decides to start playing well. Do I need to make some adjustments?

Frozen Fingers, Frozen Toes

Wow, winter is definitely right around the corner, at least for those in Denver. We left the Cincinnati area last night and it was probably still in the 90s, even at 8pm. When we landed in Denver, it was in the 40s! Talk about shocking, I was in shorts, a t-shirt, and flip-flops. It is supposed to get up to 70 today, but so far we are just barely in the 60s. I better test out the furnace soon, as we’ll probably need turn it on before we know it. In another month or so we’ll be back out on the slopes!

Queen City

I’ve been in Cincinnati for over 48 hours and still haven’t had any Skyline Chili. This is unheard of! Anyway, get a hold of me if you are in the ‘nati and let’s do something tonight. Tomorrow I have a wedding to attend, so this is your only chance. Have a good weekend, everyone.

Superjumbo Flyover

Yesterday morning I caught a glimpse of an Airbus A380, the largest passenger airliner in the world. It was doing low speed, low altitude flyovers near General Electric in Cincinnati as I was driving to my parents house. I wasn’t sure what it was at first, all I knew was that it was huge! So big, in fact, that modifications had to be made on a runway at the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport so it could land there for tours. Hopefully I’ll be able to take a ride on one of these in the future.

Winning Two Of Three

Finally, what everyone has been waiting for, this weeks fantasy football update! My unbeaten streak continues in the the league that missed the first week, so I am now 3-0 and am sitting in first place still. I won in one of the other leagues and lost in the other. In the one that I won, I am now 3-1 and in first place in that league as well. It’s interesting that there are no undefeated teams left in this league of 12. In the final league I am 2-2 and am in 6th out of 12 teams. Originally this was one of the money leagues I was playing in, but I don’t think the collection was ever taken. Either way, I need to get this team back to winning.

Monkees Win!

A new season of men’s league hockey has started, and things are already changing for the Monkees (that’s my team). In our last season, we didn’t win a single game. Our team is usually in the B division, but since there were less teams in the summer we had to play up in the A division. It wasn’t a pretty sight. Now in our new season, we’ve already ended our losing streak with a 7-3 win last night. We are playing in the C1 division since the rink decided not to have a B division this time either.

Although I probably should have done something between seasons, I could immediately tell that my ankle injury was becoming less of a problem. I didn’t even think about it until half way through the game when I could tell the muscles were getting a little tired. This is definitely a good thing, and it showed. I scored the first goal of the game, and later added an assist. Finally, I feel like I can make a regular contribution to our team! Follow along with our season at this website.

To The Playoffs?

Kim and I attended the Rockies game on Saturday night. If you didn’t know, they were still in the hunt for a playoff spot. All they needed to do was win on Saturday and Sunday and hope that San Diego lost on both Saturday and Sunday. Shortly before the first pitch on Saturday, we heard that San Diego just lost, so things were going well so far. The Rockies took a commanding lead from the start of the game, and never looked back. The final score was 11-1. On Sunday, the Rockies won yet again, and San Diego lost again. With those results, the two teams are tied for the last spot, and will play tonight in Denver to decide who will be in. I’d think about heading down to the game if the Bengals weren’t playing tonight. Hopefully the Rockies win and we’ll be able to catch a little playoff baseball.

Cilantro Lime Brown Rice?

I thought I was losing my mind after a recent visit to the nearby Chipotle, but my questions were answered last night. First, a little background. I had a delicious burrito from Chipotle on Monday evening, as I normally do when Kim is out of town for work. Even though I ate the entire thing, I noticed that the rice was a little different than normal. I actually noticed this a week prior, but I just figured it was a one time deal. In both visits, the rice was a darker color than normal, and had a slight crunch to it, almost like a brown rice.

Back to last night, we participated in the Light The Night walk benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Before the actual walk, we were treated to various food items from some of the sponsors, one of which was Chipotle. I grabbed a burrito from the booth and dug right in. To my surprise, the rice was back to the normal white color and tasted just like I always remembered it. I wonder what is going on with the Chiptole on Alameda Ave.

No VPN, No Work

Man, what a boring day! Since the late morning hours I haven’t been able to get onto work since they are experiencing some sort of VPN problems. I don’t have anything work related on this computer at my house, so I have to connect to the VPN first and then remote desktop onto my computer in the office. So, without the VPN I cannot do anything. And to make matters worse, I’ve exhausted all of my web surfing for the day. I am out of things to look at. Maybe I’ll just read the news or something. I’m gonna need more coffee to get through the rest of the day, or maybe I should just take a nap.
