Over a month ago, I finally got to my first SoundRabbit show, though I have been a fan of their music for years. I was waiting to mention the show until I got my recording of it posted online, which I finally accomplished today. Their site is currently under a redesign for a big CD release that is due out on November 9th. So my recording is one of only a few ways to listen to their music right now. The other being their MySpace page, which has samples from the new CD, This Room Becomes A Crowd.

Well we had a great time in Kansas City, despite the results of all of the involved sporting events. Kim and I got into KC on Saturday afternoon and immediately met up with my family, our friend Amy, and whomever else was in town. They were already hanging out at the 810 Zone waiting for the UC-Louisville game later that night. The bar is huge, but we still managed to fill up the game room section pretty well to watch the game. It started off well, but in the end Louisville took home the Keg of Nails and ended the Bearcats unbeaten streak.
We woke up early on Sunday morning to catch our chartered bus to Arrowhead Stadium for a tailgate party and then the game. Our bus ended up parking near some other buses from Cincinnati and full of Bengals fans, so the pregame parties were great. The game versus the Chiefs also started off pretty well, but even with a couple of scores in the final quarter, the Chiefs still ended up winning the game. The Bengals are now 1-2 in the last three years at Arrowhead Stadium, and I think it’s time to play against a different team.
My thoughts on the weekend can pretty much be summed up with this photo of Phil and I taken by my mom. We brought a camera along for the weekend, but didn’t even take it out of the bag. Fortunately my mom has a ton up on her flickr site.
My fantasy results for the week are pretty much on par with the results of the Cincinnati games. I lost badly to Kim in one of my leagues, and have dropped out of first place. Kim now sits at the top of that league. I also lost in another league and fell to 9 out of 12 teams. I just completed a big trade, so I’m hoping things will start turning around. In the final league, I actually won and I’m still holding on to first place in that league. Finally, one team that is actually following in the footsteps of good teams, like the Rockies.
Tonight Kim and I are heading to the holy land, also known as the Great American Beer Festival. We attended this party, I mean event, a couple of years ago, and I must say that it is a must see. There will be 408 breweries on the tasting floor with 1884 different beers available. I have done my research and have put together a plan to hit 43 of these breweries. I figure somewhere around 50 will be the magic number, so I still have some room for suggestions. Here’s the list of participating breweries. Cheers!
I doubt there is anyone who will read this that will be interested, but it’s worth a shot. A big group of (mostly) Bengals fans are heading to Kansas City this coming weekend to catch the game. We’ve had a few people decide to drop out from the trip, and therefore we now have extra tickets to sell. The price is $85, which includes a ticket in our section, a seat on the party bus, parking, and a tip for the driver. Honestly, it’s a steal! Anyway, let me know if you are interested and I’ll give you the additional details. WHO DEY!
Two weeks ago I started my very first salt water fish aquarium. Since then I have added some live rocks that I bought from a guy on craigslist. In local stores, these rocks sell for around five or six dollars a pound. Fortunately, this guy was moving soon and needed to clear out his stuff. He offered to sell for two dollars a pound. Perfect, I thought, I could get twenty-five pounds for fifty bucks.
But the deal ended up being even better, when he gave me around forty pounds for fifty bucks. I added all of this rock to the tank two Saturdays ago, and I’ve left the tank running since then. Now I am just waiting for the water to cycle, at which point it will be safe to add additional creatures into the tank. It’s hard to let it sit without fish, but it is necessary if I want this project to be a success.
PS Let me know what you think of the new functionality when clicking on the above pictures. You can view the rest of them here.
I continue to excel in the fantasy football leagues which I am doing well, and am still losing in the league where I am not doing so well. I won both games in the leagues where I was in first place, and I continue to be ranked first in both. In the other, I lost yet another game and fell to 2-3. This puts me in 8th of 12 teams. My team isn’t even that bad though, I just am getting some bad weeks I guess. Thoughts on this lineup?
QB: Brett Favre
WR: Donald Driver
WR: Braylon Edwards
WR: Chad Johnson
RB: Cedric Benson
RB: Jerious Norwood
TE: Jeremy ShockeyRB: Willie Parker (usually plays but on a bye)
I also have Donovan McNabb if/when he decides to start playing well. Do I need to make some adjustments?
Wow, winter is definitely right around the corner, at least for those in Denver. We left the Cincinnati area last night and it was probably still in the 90s, even at 8pm. When we landed in Denver, it was in the 40s! Talk about shocking, I was in shorts, a t-shirt, and flip-flops. It is supposed to get up to 70 today, but so far we are just barely in the 60s. I better test out the furnace soon, as we’ll probably need turn it on before we know it. In another month or so we’ll be back out on the slopes!
I’ve been in Cincinnati for over 48 hours and still haven’t had any Skyline Chili. This is unheard of! Anyway, get a hold of me if you are in the ‘nati and let’s do something tonight. Tomorrow I have a wedding to attend, so this is your only chance. Have a good weekend, everyone.
Yesterday morning I caught a glimpse of an Airbus A380, the largest passenger airliner in the world. It was doing low speed, low altitude flyovers near General Electric in Cincinnati as I was driving to my parents house. I wasn’t sure what it was at first, all I knew was that it was huge! So big, in fact, that modifications had to be made on a runway at the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport so it could land there for tours. Hopefully I’ll be able to take a ride on one of these in the future.
Finally, what everyone has been waiting for, this weeks fantasy football update! My unbeaten streak continues in the the league that missed the first week, so I am now 3-0 and am sitting in first place still. I won in one of the other leagues and lost in the other. In the one that I won, I am now 3-1 and in first place in that league as well. It’s interesting that there are no undefeated teams left in this league of 12. In the final league I am 2-2 and am in 6th out of 12 teams. Originally this was one of the money leagues I was playing in, but I don’t think the collection was ever taken. Either way, I need to get this team back to winning.
