edpaffjr.comA couple of weeks ago we started our landscaping project by first removing all of the old and overgrown bushes. Pictures from that strenuous day can be seen here. From there we then fixed up the beds, moved some heavy slabs of rock for the walkways, and finally yesterday planted eight small plants: five Winter Gem Boxwood (Buxus microphylla) and three Emerald ‘n Gold Euonymus (Euonymus fortunei). I still need to add some mulch, but things are definitely looking better than before we started.
Within an hour or getting the plants in the ground a crazy storm came through. It was nice because I didn’t have to water anything, but I could have done without the hail and the excessive rain. We had a little flooding which may have washed away some grass seed that I put down a few days ago. Time will tell, I guess. I have some before and after photos along with some pictures of the hail. The front of the house looks very nice. Are you going to add any flowers with the bushes? You could just add a few annuals for some color until the bushes get bigger. How are the house plants doing?
the house looks great! love the brick edger it adds a nice finished touch! if you can’t find matching stain, you could always paint the porch and edger. The plants look nice! I agree with Ronda add a few annuals or perennials for some color. The hail storm looks crazy!
Color is next on the list. I wanted to start with a base of green and yellow, especially in some of the tighter spaces. Now we can branch out and start looking at other options.
I’ll probably put some mulch down today and hopefully paint the porch. We took a piece into the store and had them try to match the color, but what we ended up with is purple!
