Work training was alright. It was basically a bunch of stuff for the kiosk managers to know and understand. I guess it is good for me to learn about it as well, since I will be filling in for them. I just don’t have my own kiosk that I’m in charge of. I’m ready to start doing some work all the time.

Guess what happened though. I got a call from a guy I had a phone interview with a couple weeks ago. I told him that I was involved in another job right now and that I would be doing that until next year. Well he called back yesterday and wants to have a face to face interview. I knew that once I committed to something, then other stuff would start coming in. Ugh, how annoying. Anyway, I’m going to do the interview and just take it from there. I hope it can turn into something for next year, but I don’t know…

Kim and I are planning to go to the rodeo tonight. I need to try and find my cowboy hat!

I started work today. We spent the day in a climate controlled storage room aka a very cold cave. We counted inventory for all of Hickory Farms kiosks in the area. I met 2 of the Kiosk Supervisors, who were both really cool and pleasant to work with, so that’s nice! Minus the cold, it was a really good time. Wednesday we get to work in a warm storage area though. :)

Tomorrow I get to see Jason Mraz. I think that during the afternoon I’m gonna try and see a small free show at some bar, but I really don’t have all the details yet. Hopefully that works out.

If you want to see some of our friend Dennis’ pictures from Herman, they are here: Herman Pics. You do need to have an ofoto account though. Kim and I aren’t really in any anyway…

The Hermann bus trip was a blast. I’ve never had so much wine, which made it unlike any other Octoberfest, but it was still fun.

I start working tomorrow, really early. :\

I have a job with Hickory Farms that starts next week. It starts real slow and will get really busy during the holiday season. I still don’t know what my real job title is, but I’m some sort of liaison between the Kiosk Managers and the Pioneer District Supervisor. Still not sure how I got into this job, but it will give me something to do for the next couple months…

All I know is that I am working for a few hours on Monday starting at 6:30 AM cleaning some storage, and then doing more cleaning on Wednesday. The week after that I go to a training program, then I guess it all starts from there. It seems like I will help my boss setup all the stores in the area in preparation for the holiday rush. Then I will help fill in when kiosk supervisors need a day off or can’t work. That is what I’m getting of this so far. Kiko (the boss) is a really cool guy, and I’m actually looking forward to getting out and doing something.

If you are looking for some new CD’s let me make a few suggestions:
The Low Life – Thixotropic (buy it at awarestore.com)
Dave Matthews – Some Devil (Best Buy)
Howie Day – Stop All The World Now (Best Buy)

Denver was awesome! Kim and I spent one afternoon in Breckenridge. At first we did a little bit of shopping and then shortly after that a local told us to go hiking up on Borea’s Pass. We took the advice and went. It was amazing. The pass is a gravel road that was once a railroad track. It climbs gradually up a mountain and the entire time there are amazing views down into Breckenridge and other mountains around there. The leaves on the trees (the non evergreen ones) had changed to a bright gold color, which contrasted very nicely with the evergreens. I have some amazing pictures that I will have to scan sometime. We also went to the Great American Beer Festival while in Denver. I’ve never had some many different beers in such a short amount of time. It was a great time though, as was the entire weekend. Thanks to Kim’s friend Josh for it all!

I got on a hockey team out here in KC. We had our second game tonight, and lost again, but this time it was only 1-0. The last game we lost really badly, but I had 2 goals. :) I’m enjoying it so far, and we have 11 more games still!

I still have no job news, but I’m getting some feedback from the web design stuff. It is looking very nice so far.
Oh yeah, I may have a position with Hickory Farms for the holiday season. The Pioneer District Supervisor (Kiko) is looking for an assistant and I may have filled his position. I should know more in a week or so, hopefully…

The trip I had home to fix Kim’s windshield was nice. I got to see most of my friends and even have some pretty good nights out at the bars. I was ready to come back to KC though, since Kim wasn’t with me on this trip.

This weekend we are riding a bus with many others 4 hours away to some small town’s Octoberfest. Everyone that has gone on it before loved it, so we are looking forward to that. And then the weekend after this, we are back in Ohio. This time for a wedding…

I think that is about it for now.
Prost!

The delivery thing didn’t work out. I wouldn’t really deliver all that much, and then when I wasn’t I would have to cut meat and all that. :barf

I applied to Best Buy and CompUSA yesterday. I think I would enjoy a job at either of those places more than at a food place. We’ll see where that takes us. I’ve also been using the classifieds. :)

If you know ANYONE who needs a website, contact me about it. I’m gonna try to get some freelance things going on. Carrie is gonna give me some leads, people who contacted her for a site and she had to tell them that she didn’t have time to do it. She is awesome! :)

I’m planning to go to NYC over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend for the big OAR shows! I just need to get the money now…

Kim and I are heading to Denver this weekend to visit her friend Josh and to go to a big beer festival. It should be a very good time!

Well back to job searches…

2003-09-19

I’m ready t’give up on all job searchin’. I have created some business cards for ED Webpages however. Maybe this be what I’m Ahoy! posed t’do. Also, I have an interview today t’be a sub delivery guy for Mr. Goodcents. Excitin’, I know. :) I just need somethin’ t’do…

The reason for the funny language up there, it is Talk Like A Pirate Day!

Well, H&R Block has still not gotten back to me. I guess I can’t blame them, since I have had all contact with them through a woman who doesn’t even work there. I guess she should be the one to blame.
Yesterday I went to some temp places, and they still didn’t have anything for me to do. This is awful…
I have a few phone calls to make today, and I’m really considering getting a delivery job at this sub shop up the street. I may just go and check that out today…

In good news, Kim’s 2 youngest brothers were out here this past weekend. It was a blast taking them ice skating, bowling, putt putting, laser tagging, etc. I think I made a few of those words up, but you get the idea. This weekend, Liam and Bobbi are coming back out again to visit!

In my boredom, I have redone the Pig-Fest site, so that all of my websites look very professional now. This is all in hopes of getting some freelance jobs with web design, since that is still one thing that I love to do. Anyway, check out the site here: Pig-Fest

Oh yeah, the comedy show with Lewis Black was awesome! I thought his performances was great, as was Mitch Hedburg’s. I didn’t really care for Dave Attell though, he just made fun of people the whole time…

Chicago was a good time as usual. Always fun hanging with Tracey, Liam, Joe and Pat, since we used to do it all the time. It sucks that we are all moving all over the place, but I guess it is bound to happen. It was also fun partying with all the regulars, and even the randoms too. :) It was incredible to see that many people at an OAR show and especially to see everyone leaving after they were done even though NERD still was up to play. We didn’t stick around either. :)

Southwest is an interesting way to fly. The seating is all GA, meaning first come first serve. Note to self (or anyone that flies SW): show up early if you want to sit with those you are flying with…

Half.com is an awesome site. I’ve been selling all my old school books that I don’t want any more, and also been buying CD’s for way cheap!!!

Today is the big day for H&R Block, they are supposed to let me know yes/no if I have a job. No one else has lived up to their deadlines so we’ll see if this really happens. Wish me luck!

Pig-Fest was incredible as always. It rained, but other than that it was fun for everyone. Check out the pictures: http://pigfest.edpaffjr.com

My Aunt Stefanie had her baby! A little girl named Elizabeth Ann. She is the first Busch cousin in quite some time!

Kim and I have planned some trips. We are going back to Cincinnati for Labor Day and to see the fireworks and everything. Then the weekend after that we are going to Chicago to party with all of my O.A.R. friends and see a show! Later in Sept. we are going to Denver to visit her friend Josh and to go to a beer tasting festival. That should be really cool and fun. I’ve never been to Denver or anywhere in the west before, besides California…

We are also going home again sometime in October and going to a wedding for a friend of hers. There is always stuff to do!

I’ve actually had a little luck with my job searching. I may get a temp position with H&R Block staring Sept. 8th and going through January or February, with another position becoming available at that time as well. It sounds like something that will be alright to do for awhile. It’s a job in quality assurance, so I would be testing software and web forms. Easy enough. :) Wish me luck for that. I need to find something to do…

That is it for now, hope everyone is well!!!
